Where to Go for Water Adventures in South Bali

21Feb

When it comes to sports that can get you wet, surfing is obviously the best activity in Seminyak. However, if you are looking to do something more than surfing, you might have to travel around a little.

Places like Ubud, Sanur, Tanjung Benoa, and Nusa Dua offer a variety of water adventures and sports such as white water river tubing, rafting, sea walking, jet skiing and parasailing.

1. River adventures

In the north of Denpasar, there are several rivers that flow towards the eastern coast. The hilly Ubud and surrounding places create a great opportunity for rivers to flow rapidly, which makes a perfect playground for water adventures.

You can head over to Bali Tubing Adventure’s website to book a tour on 3 different rivers: Ayung, Penet, and Pakerisan. Float on a giant inflatable donut and ride the rocky river like a pinball. For the adrenaline junkies, you can even opt for a ride on a single-person river board!

Bali River Rafting is also another great opportunity for groups of friends to challenge the river together. Challenge Ayung river, and 2 other rivers: Telaga and Melangit, whose rapids are far more fierce compared to the former.

2. Sea walking

You don’t need to take a course in scuba diving to be able to explore the sea bed and enjoy the fascinating world of coral reefs. With Seawalker Conservation Sanur, you can instantly suit up a special helmet that fully covers the head and upper chest, giving you a comfort and freedom to wander the sea floor.

The helmet offers a more or less 180-degree view, very similar to an astronaut’s helmet, and unlike a snorkeling mask. Air is delivered to your mask, so you can breathe normally just like on land. This is particularly attractive to those who feel uncomfortable breathing through a conventional regulator mouthpiece that is built for divers.

3. Jet Ski

Jet Skis are cool, and you can ride fast like James Bond in front of the coast at Nusa Dua. While there are motorcycles that kind of look like jet skis (Yamaha NMAX and Honda PCX), riding fast on the road is no match for going fast on the water – on an actual jet ski.

Adventoro offers a chance to ride with a 700 CC engine, giving you absolute freedom to travel as fast as you want, while remaining well-balanced and safe. The service offers pick up and drop off, so if Nusa Dua seems too far from Seminyak, you wouldn’t need to worry about the logistics.

4. Parasailing

Parasailing in Bali

While you actually take off into the air on a parasail, and the boat team try their best that you don’t touch the water, parasailing deserves a place in this list of water sports. Tanjung Benoa is a favorite spot for parasailing. In front of Pandawa Marine Adventures, you should find agents that allow you to rent a parasailing service.

Parasailing in the eastern peninsula is ideal because the winds are strong, and they are a lot stronger offshore. You will experience an amazing panorama of south Bali. To the south, you can see the magnificent giant statue –Garuda Wisnu Kencana. To the west, you might see the airport, and to the north, you can see Mertasari beach in Sanur.
